The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) Level 1 is now accepting applications! This opportunity is available to current Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Grade 11 students who are interested in pursuing a career in the skilled trades. “It’s not that I don’t feel included, I feel ignored,” said an I.E. Weldon Secondary School (IEWSS) community member who uses a wheelchair for mobility. This comment sparked a desire amongst staff at IEWSS to spend time learning about what it’s like to navigate the school building from the perspective of a wheelchair user. On February 1 and 2, over 60 staff members held an accessibility challenge, in which departmental teams participated in an obstacle course and scavenger hunt using wheelchairs to travel throughout the building. King Albert Public School Holds Kindness Festival

On February 13, King Albert Public School (KAPS) held a Kindness Festival to spread the word on the importance of being kind and to build stronger relationships with parents/guardians and the community. Students and families had the opportunity to visit a number of different stations, including making hearts at a craft table, kindness cookies, happiness hopscotch, and friendship bracelets. Grade two and three French Immersion students at Riverside Public School are very proud of a recent project and learning experience that they worked on over the past few months. The end result is three gorgeous quilts that will be hung in the halls at the school to remind everyone that Every Child Matters. This fall at Riverside Public School, students participated in an assembly to learn about Residential Schools.
