On April 10, Grade 7/8 students from 12 elementary schools across the Board travelled to I.E. Weldon Secondary School to compete in the elementary Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Skills Ontario Qualifier event for construction. In teams of four, students were tasked with preparing, designing, and building a scaled down model home with a set amount of materials, which were then judged on various elements, including the quality of construction, detail of the design plan, craftsmanship, creativity, safety, and teamwork. IEWSS Robotics Team Compete at the Provincial Robotics Championship

After months of dedicated hard work building a robot and advancing from the qualifying matches, which were held in March at Durham College in Oshawa and Nipissing University in North Bay, I. E. Weldon Secondary School (IEWSS) Wild WYRE (Weldon Young Robotics Engineers) 8731 advanced to the Provincial Robotics Championship. The Rotary Club of Bracebridge Donates to BMLSS Programs

On April 9, representatives from the Rotary Club of Bracebridge visited Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School (BMLSS) to make a donation to the school’s Laker Leadership Council, and hospitality, visual arts, and music programs. The donation was a result of the hard work from both staff and students in these programs who dedicated their time to support the rotarians with their recent fundraiser that supported sponsoring a Syrian family who will be coming to live in Bracebridge, and also supported children impacted by the war in Ukraine. Huntsville High School Student Places First at Legion’s Public Speaking Competition

Huntsville High School (HHS) Grade 12 student, Carolyn Yungblut, has recently been recognized for her accomplishments in the Legion’s Public Speaking Competitions. The first branch-level competition took place on February 15 in Huntsville, Ontario, and the second zone-level competition took place on March 3 in Orillia, Ontario. Yungblut was the only competitor in her division for each of these competitions, taking home first place and advancing to the district-level. LINDSAY, ON – The Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) has launched a survey to better understand students’ and their families’ experiences with Individual Education Plans (IEP). The Learning About the IEP Experience Survey, a SEAC initiative, supports the findings from the Board’s recent Special Education Review.
