Huntsville High School Student Places First at Legion’s Public Speaking Competition

Huntsville High School (HHS) Grade 12 student, Carolyn Yungblut, has recently been recognized for her accomplishments in the Legion’s Public Speaking Competitions. The first branch-level competition took place on February 15 in Huntsville, Ontario, and the second zone-level competition took place on March 3 in Orillia, Ontario. Yungblut was the only competitor in her division for each of these competitions, taking home first place and advancing to the district-level. Trillium Lakelands District School Board staff, parents/guardians and students are invited to celebrate student art at the first-ever Better Together Arts Showcase, taking place in each region of the Board. LINDSAY, ON – The Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) has launched a survey to better understand students’ and their families’ experiences with Individual Education Plans (IEP). The Learning About the IEP Experience Survey, a SEAC initiative, supports the findings from the Board’s recent Special Education Review. The review took place throughout the 2022-2023 school year and engaged students, families, administrators, community partners, and special education staff. TLDSB Education Centre Staff Raise Money to Support Students in Need

From March 4 to 6, the Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) Lindsay Education Centre Sunshine Committee hosted the first-ever Spring Craft and Bake Sale to raise money for the Feed All Four Fund. This fund provides direct support to students and families in TLDSB communities who may be struggling. The initiative kicked off with a vendor callout, asking staff to bring either a craft or baked good product to be sold. The I.E. Weldon Secondary School (IEWSS) Varsity Hockey Team recently made school history by winning their first championship! The varsity team has been around since the school was inaugurated in 1971 and is made up of Grade 9 to 12 male students. King Albert Public School takes part in the Great Big Crunch

On March 7, King Albert Public School (KAPS) hosted the City of Kawartha Lakes Great Big Crunch and had students and staff crunch down on apples to demonstrate the impact that healthy school food has on enriching the lives of students.
